2013-4-15 Passing the Rock of Gilbratar Soon

Last night about 9, someone spotted an empty life raft. Just to make sure it was empty, we circled around and came back. The captain said we were duty bound to check it out. Sure enough, it was empty. But, we were all excited to see it as we have seen nothing but water for eight days. It was pretty exciting to think we might rescue someone but we were all glad it was unoccupied.

I think I can safely speak for everyone on board when I say that “sailing across the way, eating 16 meals a day” has lost its charm and we are all eager to set foot on terra firma.

We observed the 140th birthday of Holland America line a few days ago. Just in case they do it all year long, let me tell you that the prizes were not worth the hour long commercial that we endured. We all expected the drawing to include a free cruise but the largest prize was a dinner at a specialty place on board. The food here is spectacular. So, I don’t really understand why anyone would pay extra to eat in a restaurant on the ship.

We have had a wonderful ocean crossing but are eager for it to end.

Bill put his glasses on the towel art so I had to take a picture of it.
