2013-4-21 Monte Carlo

Bill is doing well with the loose cap on his tooth except that he has even more restrictions on what he can eat.  The food is fantastic. One of the assistant chefs was cooking pasta to order at lunch. He put some olive oil, garlic and onions over heat. Then he added the cooked pasta and fresh broccoli and stir fried it for Bill. Bill was in heaven. He has to be careful of salt and this dish was Made to Order!

The Grand Prix is coming in May and Monte Carlo is already setting up the viewing stands. In preparation, ordinary car drivers are already running the route pretending they are in the race. It was dangerous to cross the streets. This is no place for pedestrians.  Those cars were passing on the street and we were forced to use the street, too. There are sidewalks but they are inadequate.

Bill wanted me to take his picture of him racing at Monte Carlo. A car just happened to go by at the right time!

I took this picture from the yacht club.

This is a statue on the corner.

Here is a collage I made from our pictures.

We have never been here before so we decided to walk into the city proper. There is a new dock area with an Oceanographic Museum. We were too tired to go see it after we walked around the dock.

Here is one of the cruise ship dancers showing off.

She took a picture for us.

The show tonight is “In Concert”. It’s a formal night and we aren’t keen on those. In the daily announcements, we discovered that we could watch the rehearsal at 4 p.m. so we did. It was a tribute to the stars such the Beatles, Diana Ross, Elton John and the Rolling Stones. We knew all the songs but one so we really enjoyed it.

Those kids sing and dance their hearts out. I think these are the best singers we have heard on a ship. All four of the top ones are great. I think I heard some opera training there. Also, the dancers are excellent. A few have ballet skills. The cruise director tries to get us to show our appreciation but we are really sedate as a group.
